Dorothy Wilson Starrett, age 78, of Poplarville, formerly of Gulfport, passed away Friday, February 11, 2011 in Gulfport.
Mrs. Starrett was employed at the Purple Lantern for 20 years and later retired from the Gulfport School System. She was a current member of First Baptist Church of Poplarville and had been a longtime member of Bayou View Baptist Church. She was passionate about donating her time and resources to the church and also to the community working with handicapped and delinquent children. One of her greatest attributes was being the spiritual leader of her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William ""Billy"" Starrett.
Survivors include her children, William Dwight Starrett and Robin Starrett.
A graveside service will be held Thursday at 1 pm in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
