Dorothy J. Spence, age 74, resident of Gulfport, died on Wednesday, January 30, 2008, in Gulfport.
Ms. Spence was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Gulfport and worked for South MS Planning Development District where she was a Social Worker. She was a caretaker, extending her time to the many people she helped and her loving family. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clifford Saucier.
She is survived by her mother, Bessie Mae Saucier of Gulfport; children, Rodney Spence (and Connie) of Gulfport, and Marlene Cockrell (and Leman) of Magee, MS; brother, Harold Saucier (and Maggie) of Gulfport; grandchildren, Sarah Beth Spence, Diggs Spence, Lauren Cockrell, Carlee Mae Cockrell, and Ashley Cockrell; niece, Danielle Bates, and nephew, Randall Saucier.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2008, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11213 Highway 49 North, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 1, 2008, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Evergreen Gardens in Gulfport.
