Dorothy Ann Lovett Smith, age 68 and a resident of Gulfport, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2010, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her husband, Charles D. Smith, (USAF, RET) and her brother, Joseph E. Lovett Jr.,
She is survived by her two sisters, Delores Lovett Shankle and Patricia Lovett Simmons, both of Gulfport; her children, Donnie R. Daniels of Houston, TX, Kenneth L. (Rebekah) Daniels of Gulfport, Peter E. Smith of Mesquite, TX, James L. (Traci) Smith of McKinney, TX, Terry W. (Sonya) Smith of Woodbury, TN, and Sondra K. (Tom) Hadding of Gulfport; her twenty grandchildren, Jeffry Daniels, Arron Daniels, Jonathan Daniels, Brooke Combs, Christopher Daniels, Joshua Daniels, Tayler Kendrick, Noah Kendrick, Jeremiah Daniels, Elijah Daniels, Asher Daniels, Sarah Daniels, Elizabeth Daniels, McKenna Smith, Weston Smith, Cortney Smith, Christine Smith, Russell Smith, Tyler Hadding, Katie Hadding, Tommy Hadding, and Jennifer Akins, and her four great-grandchildren, Hannah Akins, Hailey Akins, Andrew Akins, and Aiden Smith.
Mrs Smith was born in Handsboro, MS, to her parents, Joseph and Katherine Lovett. She attended Victory Temple Assembly of God in Biloxi where she was a Sunday school bus captain.
Mrs Smith found great joy in loving and nurturing her 20 grandchildren. Her strength and faith derived from her favorite scripture, aÌâÅThe Lord is my Shepherd aÌ⦠aÌâÅ(Psalms 23).
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at 12:30 p.m. at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
