Dot Russell, age 90, of Bay St. Louis, died Sunday, July 5, 2009 in Biloxi.
Mrs. Russell was a native and longtime resident of Bay St. Louis before moving to Biloxi. She was a graduate of MS State College for Women and was the owner/operator of Dot Russell's School of Dance. She was a former Miss Bay St. Louis and was Queen on the May at Mississippi State University.
She was an avid gardener and was past-president of the Bay/Waveland Garden Club and a certified flower show judge. She also enjoyed playing bridge, pottery, painting, cooking, making costumes, and in her later years, making bookmarks to make people happy. Mrs. Russell's greatest love was for her family and doing for others. The Russell family wishes to thank the staff and her wonderful friends at the Loyalton of Biloxi and the special care provided by Odyssey Hospice.
She was preceded in death byher parents, Theodore Anthony and Mae King Tudury.
Survivors include her husband, Hon. Dan M. Russell, Jr.; 3 children, Ronald T. (Kathy) Russell, Dale James, all of Gulfport, and Brian Russell, CA; 1 brother, Theodore Anthony Tudury, Jr., Morgan City, LA; 3 grandchildren, Michael James, Brandon Russell, and Kimberly Russell; and 1 great-grandchild, Layla Barnes.
The funeral service will be 11:00 am Wednesday at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Rd., Biloxi where friends may visit from 10:00 - 11:00 am.
Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
