Dorothy Ruth McCabe, age 76, of Diamondhead, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024.
Dorothy was born to Margaret Scott Fairley and Charles D. Scott. Throughout her life, she cherished her parents and held them close to her heart. She married the love of her life, Thomas Patrick McCabe, and together they shared a beautiful journey filled with love and happiness.
She worked and retired from Goldin Industries, in her retirement she found solace and joy in exploring the realms of various genres and authors through countless books. Music brought another layer of delight to Dorothy's life. Her favorite musicians included George Strait and Elvis Presley, whose melodies always resonated deeply within her soul and Dorothy loved to gather around with her loved ones to play Pictionary. The laughter shared during these game nights created timeless memories that will forever be cherished by her family.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Thomas Patrick McCabe, and her stepson, Thomas "Tommy" McCabe, III.
Dorothy leaves behind a rich legacy carried by those she treasured most in life. She is survived by her son, John W. Oakes (Karen) and her stepchildren, Theresa McCabe (wife of Tommy), Mike McCabe (Cindy), Joe McCabe, Pete McCabe, Elizabeth Darrah (Bruce), Kathy Green, Theresa Little (Jim). Her memory is further etched into the hearts of her grandchildren, Alexander Oakes, Isabella Oakes, Jeremy McCabe (Teagan), Simon McCabe (Rebecca), Zach McCabe (Ashley), as well as several great-grandchildren. The loss of Dorothy is mourned not only by her immediate family but also by extended family members and friends who were touched by her kindness and generosity throughout the years.
Relatives, friends, and well-wishers are invited to pay their respects and honor Dorothy's life during the visitation event at Riemann Family Funeral Home in Long Beach, MS, on February 2, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will follow the visitation at the same location, starting at 11:00 AM. It is a time for loved ones to gather and share memories while celebrating Dorothy's life. Dorothy will be laid to rest with a solemn interment ceremony at Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, MS. The ceremony will take place on February 2, 2024, at 12:30 PM.
