Mrs. Dorothy G. Clark of Gulfport passed away on June 19, 2008 in Gulfport after a lenghty battle with dementia.
Mrs. Clark was born in Newton, MS in March of 1919. She moved to the Coast in 1954 and opened Clark's Grocery, a convenience store and fuel station on Hwy 49 in Orange Grove. She love her family, church, gardening and baking - her apple tarts were known to draw a crowd. Mrs. Clark was a founding member of Orange Grove Baptist Church and was a member of Campground Baptist Church. She will be remembered as the matriarch of large family , who worked hard to give her children the opportunity to make the most for themselves and their families and will be sadly missed by all that knew her.
Mrs. Clark is preceded in death by her husband, Dan T. Clark, her father, mother, sister and two brothers, as well as her daughter Judy Blackwell and son Bobby Clark. She is survived by her sonsMac and his wife Nora of Gulfport and Don C. and his wife Rosemarie of Gulfport, 10 grandchildren, Jeff Blackwell, Jackie Miles, Dane Clark, Deborah Clark, Mark Clark, Doni Clark, Heather VanDevelde, Carolyn Skinner, Cheryl Gibson, and Brian Clark, 7 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 20, 2008 at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at Pine Bluff Baptist Church in Newton, MS. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Campgoround Baptist Church Building Fund, 20577 Hwy 53, Lyman, MS 39503.
