Doris Pierce Vice, age 88, of the Helena community, died Friday, April 4, 2008 in Helena.
Mrs. Vice was born in Franklin Creek and lived most of her life in Helena. She was a member of Helena Presbyterian Church and was a homemaker spending most of the time in her kitchen cooking and cleaning. """"Maw Maw"""" was a true matriarch and family was her greatest joy. In recent years, she enjoyed traveling, wearing her jewelry, and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie Vice; 4 children: Ann Vice Smith, Dorothy """"Doodle"""" Vice, Arlene Vice, and Morris Vice; her parents, Plummer and Annie Pierce; and 6 brothers and sisters: Banner Graham, Lydie Taylor, Myrtle LaForce, Avery Pierce, Claude Pierce, and Dub Pierce.
She is survived by 6 devoted children: Nita Goff, Buck (Jean) Vice, Johnny (Callie) Vice, JoAnn (L.D. Crane) Vice, Darlene (Eddie) McIlwain, and Jimmy (Diane) Vice; 21 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 6, 2008 from 5-8 pm at the Helena Presbyterian Church. The funeral service will be at 2 pm Monday in the church sanctuary.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Helena.
