Doris P. Swarnowicz, a beloved matriarch and cherished member of the Gulfport community, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 18, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on October 8, 1937, in Mississippi, she dedicated her life to her family, nurturing her children and grandchildren with love and care.
Doris was a woman of warmth and generosity, known for her passion for cooking and her gift for hospitality. She delighted in preparing meals for all who entered her home, ensuring that no guest ever left hungry. Her culinary skills were surpassed only by her love for her family, a value she held dearly. Doris formerly attended Bel Aire Baptist Church.
Doris is survived by her three children: her son, John P. Swarnowicz III, and her daughters, Pam Dickey (Jimmy) and Sandra S. Creel (Steven). Additionally, she is lovingly remembered by her son-in-law, Robert Campbell, along with her six grandchildren, Jeff Hubler, Tyler Campbell (Stephanie), Aaron Campbell, Trevor Niles (Kinsey), Hannah Hartsoe Grooms (Brody), and John P. Swarnowicz IV (Breanna). The legacy of love Doris instilled extend to her eight great-grandchildren, Annalise Hartsoe, Barrett Grooms, Emerson Swarnowicz, Holden Womack, Brooks Campbell, Jaxton Niles, Haisley, and Huxley; and sisters, Brenda Lott (Bruce) and Diane MacIver (Mike).
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, John P. Swarnowicz Sr., her son, Robert A. Swarnowicz, and her daughter, Rhonda K. Campbell. She also mourned the loss of her parents, Sam and Maggie O'Neal. Each of these individuals held a special place in her heart and contributed to the rich tapestry of her life.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. A funeral procession will depart at 10:15 a.m., going to Biloxi National Cemetery where a Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating the beautiful life Doris lived, as they honor her memory on this day.
Doris P. Swarnowicz will be lovingly remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family, her nurturing spirit, and the lasting impact she made on all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will be felt for generations to come.
