Doris Sprouse

Doris Jean Sprouse, 93, Gulfport, MS passed peacefully on Friday, February 12, 2021 after a short stay at Ocean Springs hospital.

She graduated from Hopewell High School in Virginia in 1945. After she graduated, she attended nursing school at Johnston Willis Hospital. Upon receiving her nursing certificate, she worked as a registered nurse for 50 years at Gulfport Memorial Hospital, Keesler Medical Center, and Biloxi Regional Hospital.

She was born January 3, 1928 in Hopewell, VA and lived in Biloxi/Gulfport for 65 years. She was the last remaining charter member of Bay Vista Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Philip Hilderbrand, her daughter Sandra Kaye Lovins, her second husband Bob Sprouse, and her grandson Kyle Bell. She is survived by two sons, Philip Hilderbrand (Judy) and Eddie Hilderbrand (Becky); one daughter, Jeani Bell (Gary) and one stepdaughter Carol Knight (Jeff.); 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a host of friends.

Visitation for family and friends will be at Riemann Family Funeral Home, Biloxi, MS on Monday, February 22, 2021 at 9:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM with Reverend Danny Nance officiating. Burial will follow with a private family service at Biloxi National Cemetery.
