Doris Mae “Nena” Revon, 93, was born March 30, 1930, to Grover Clifton Peoples and Edna Pauline Frye Casanovas in Monroeville, Alabama.  She passed away at The Claiborne at Gulfport Highlands on November 30, 2023.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister and brothers, Priscilla Silver, James Peoples, and Grover Peoples. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Joe Revon, who brought her coffee and breakfast in bed every morning of their lives together.

She is survived by her four children, Mrs. Pat Head (Will), Ms. Judy Chauvin, Mrs. Cindy Creel (Barney), and Mrs. Tiffany Hancock (Doug); seven grandchildren, Charlie Chauvin (Jane), Thomas Callaghan, Beth Chauvin, Mary Carlson (Brad), Corey Creel (Alex), Julia Hancock, and Blake Hancock; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Revon was a native of Mobile, AL and a resident of Gulfport, MS. She was a homemaker, enjoyed gardening, being outside, and had a saying for everything, for instance, “That’s your tale, I’m sitting on mine!” An avid reader, she loved classical stories, novels, biographies, and poetry. Her favorite poem was If - by Rudyard Kipling. She was a member of the Gulf Coast Symphony, Opera Salon, Gulfport Women’s Club, Gulfport Yacht Club, DAV Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the Great Southern Club, and was a poll worker for her precinct. She loved her family, her country, and her Catholic faith. She especially loved spending time with her four daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org/donate or 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

The family would like to recognize and thank her loving caregivers, Arlene Hughes, Susan Tucker, and Glenda Walraven and the weekly visits in prayer with her dear friend, Deacon Dick Henderson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday, December 8, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Woolmarket.  Interment will be in Biloxi National Cemetery.
