Doris """"Bonnie"""" Garner Hunter, age 73, resident of Gulfport, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2009, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Hunter was born in Picayune to the late Forrest and Pearl Ladner Bennett. She was a lifelong resident of the Coast. She received commendation for being the only female meat cutter at KAFB and within the Central District of twelve states, before retiring after 20 years. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, and living life to the fullest. Her family was the most special part of her life. She was known as the """"Godmother"""" to her family and friends. She was a member of the Gulfport Heights Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Clyde Garner; son, Tommy Garner; brother, F.B. Bennett; sisters, Carmen White and Myrtis Montana.
She is survived by three children, Douglas E. Garner (Sharon) of Gulfport, Michele Y. Murray (Ken) of Gulfport, and Renee G. Hall (Randy) of Gulfport; brother, Tommy J. Bennett of Gulfport and sister, Betty Lloyd of Baxterville, MS; grandchildren, Matthew G. Murray, Sarah B. Garner, and Amanda C. Murray.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2009, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, where friends may visit from 9-10 a.m. A procession will leave at 10 a.m. for a graveside service at 10:30 a.m. at Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Bennett, Matthew Murray, Blake Elder, David Montana, Donald Montana, Chris Russell, Adam Russell, and Russell Hall.
