Doris Winstead Hogue, 89, of Gulfport, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2009, Following a brief illness. She was born in Burns, MS and resided in Jackson, MS, until moving to the Gulf Coast in 1947. Doris graduated from Central High School, Jackson, MS in 1937.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband Gordon Hogue. She is survived by three daughters, Peggy Hector (Holcomb), Diamondhead, Judy Green (Jay), Gulfport, and Gerry Grant (Terry), San Juan Capistrano, CA, and her sister Beulah Appleton, Jackson MS, and two step-daughters Nell Bourgeois (Jack) and Betty Jean Muller (George) both of Gulfport. She also leaves 8 grandchildren, David Hector, Diamondhead, Kenny Barhanovich, Dede Hector Bertron, Laurie Hector Pearson all of Houston TX, Chelle Barhanovich, Biloxi, Suzann Barhanovich of Gulfport, Steven Grissom, Baton Rouge, LA and Jennifer Grissom Campbell, Mt. Pleasant, SC. Doris is also survived by 17 great grandchildren, one great-great grandson, four nieces, including Susan Schaeffer, Jackson, and one nephew.
Doris was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church of Gulfport, serving on various boards and committees through the years. She was the office manager for the Gulf Coast Orthopaedic Clinic where she worked for over thirty years until her retirement at the age of 83.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until 2:00pm on Monday, September 14th at the First United Methodist Church, 2301 15th Street, Gulfport. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm in the church sanctuary, with interment at Southern Memorial Park on Highway 90 in Biloxi. The RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd, Gulfport is in charge of the services.
