Miss Donna Rosalind Harper, born in Biloxi, Mississippi, March 24, 1972, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on April 6, 2009.
She graduated from St. John's High School and received her Associate's Degree from Gulf Coast Community College. She also attended the University of Southern Mississippi. She joined the Army Reserve when she was in the 11th grade, and in 1991, her unit was activated during Desert Storm. She graduated from the Adjutant General School, United States Army Soldier Support Institute as an Executive Administrative Assistant and was an esteemed member of the Adjutant General's Corps Regiment, with lineage, traditions and honors commencing with the June 17, 1775 Continental Congress appointment of Horatio Gates as the first Adjutant General of the United States Army. She earned her Army Service Ribbon/National Defense Service Medal, Army Lapel Button, and Marksman Badge (M-16).
Throughout her long illnesses, she kept her spirits up and always had a smile for her family. She dearly loved her books, computer, enjoyed making web pages for people, and writing poetry. Her gourmet type cooking was delicious. She also liked to pursue her garden interests. Although she did not have children, her three cats, Luna, BeBe, and Spidey, were the loves of her life.
Donna's life was not long on earth; however, she was very special in the eyes of her family and friends. She never let time pass without keeping in touch with her family.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Sue Sturtevant Jackson; maternal grandparents, Charles Eugene Makepeace and Mable Laverne Harris Makepeace; paternal grandparents, D.D. Harper and Eugenia Rosalind Harper; uncles, Claude Eugene Makepeace, Charles Henry Makepeace, and Robert Harper; and an aunt, Lorene Culler.
She leaves behind with numerous memories, her father and mother, Benjamin Leroy Harper and Marguerite Laverne Makepeace Harper, of Gulfport; her sister, Patricia Anne Ramirez and her husband, Edwin, of Gulfport; her aunts, Colleen Harper Dana and her husband, Richard, of Biloxi and Linda Sue Makepeace Posey of Shawnee Mission, KS; an uncle, Donald Harper and his wife, Frieda, of Sulfur, LA; two nieces, Chastity Spratt of Gulfport, and Christina Gonzales of Houston, TX; three nephews, Joel Stockman and Ashton Stockman, both of Perkinston, and Timothy Mason Sturtevant of Gulfport; two great-nieces; and two great-nephews. Friends are invited to visit from 11:30 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2009, at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Rd, Biloxi. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery.
