Donna Lynn Guidry (Dronet), 67, gained her wings and went home to her Lord on February 1, 2023, surrounded by her loving family after a decades-long battle with cancer. A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at Riemann Family Funeral Home in Ocean Springs, MS, from 2-3 pm. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 6, 2023, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley, LA, at 11:00 am, with a gravesite service beginning at 12:00 pm. In place of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Donna was born in Crowley, LA, on December 11, 1955, to the late Atlas and Willie Mae Dronet. She was a 1973 graduate of Crowley High School. She was a warrior in many ways: a prayer warrior for those in need, a warrior in her battle with cancer, and a warrior fighting for her beliefs. She ministered to others battling cancer by sharing her story and giving advice on what has helped her in her journey.
Donna married Jessie Guidry of Andrus Cove, LA, in 1974, and they spent 47 wonderful years together. In 1985, she gave birth to their only daughter, Jessica, the "air she breathed." She gained additional family when they moved from Crowley, LA, to Ocean Springs, MS, in 1999, where she and her husband ran the Bienville Sonic Drive-In together for nine years. In 2007, she gained a son-in-law and grandchildren in 2009 and 2013, whom she called "her hearts." In the years that followed, she split her time between taking care of Jessie and visiting the grandchildren, her sisters, and Disney.
Donna credited her faith for carrying her through everything. Next to God, her family was the most important thing in her life. She is survived by her daughter, Jessica Brock (Drew), and her grandchildren, Bradley, Mason, and Olivia. Her siblings, Jim Dronet (Toni) of Lafayette, LA, Judy Rains of West Monroe, LA, Kolita Jarnagin (Michael) of Belle Rose, LA, Patricia Broussard (Clay) of St Amant, LA, Becky Dronet of St. Martin, MS, Brad Dronet (Carlene) of Jackson, AL, and Donald Leger of Egan, LA; Godchildren, Kendle Kibodeaux and MaKhala Hollingsworth; many nieces, nephews, brother in laws, sister in laws, and all of her Sonic Kids. Her strength and kindness will be missed tremendously.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Jessie A Guidry; her father, Atlas Dronet; her mother, Willie Mae Dronet; her sisters, Brenda Leger, Vienna Lejeune, and Norma Thibodeaux; nephews, Atlas Dean Leger, Tyler Leger, Blaine Kibodeaux, Kevin Lejeune and niece MaLiyah Hollingsworth.
Pallbearers will be Kendle Kibodeaux, Brad Dronet, B.J. Dronet, Eddie Guidry, Clay Mouton, Rusty Broussard, Steven Nall and Rodney Brock.
Riemann Family Funeral Home, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd, West Jackson Co. is serving the family.
