Donald R. Griffith, age 71, of Waveland was granted everlasting peace on November 26, 2021, in Gulfport, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Colonel Roy Wesley Griffith, Sr (USAF Retired) and Mary Elizabeth Griffith; and his brother, Roy Wesley Griffith, Jr.
Don is survived by the mother of his children, Barbara Griffith; his daughter, Tina Oakes (Russell); his son, Alex Griffith (Cherie); his son, Chris Griffith (Dominique); his brother, Bryon Griffith (Yvonne); his two grandchildren, Brandon and Lexie (Alex); his niece, Angel Porter; his nephew, Wesley Griffith (Ashley) and their children Gabriel, Micah, Ashton and Alivia; and his nephew, Brad Griffith (Christina) and their children Edelle and Tristan.
He earned his degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. After serving time in the United States Army, he began his career with Eckerd Drugs and then moved on to several positions within the federal government, including roles at the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Office of Personnel Management and National Aeronautics and Space Administration. He retired from NASA in 2015 after over 20 years of service, where he earned numerous awards for his recognized accomplishments including the NASA Outstanding Leadership medal and the NASA Exceptional Service medal. “The Don” shared many experiences and lasting friendships with his NASA family.
Don was passionate about fishing, hunting and pilgrimages to Harbor Freight! His strength of character is an example for us all. Don was a man of great integrity and generously gave his unconditional love and time to his family and friends, and he will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know him.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Fresenius Kidney Care Center and Memorial Hospital.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 3, 2021, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, with a visitation from 9:30 AM until the mass. Interment will follow at St. Joseph at Rotten Bayou.
