Rev. Donald Ray Silkwood, age 52, and a resident of Pass Christian went to be with his Savior on Tuesday, December 13, 2011.
He was the pastor of Kittiwake Baptist Church in Pass Christian. Rev. Silkwood was a graduate of Long Beach High School and Mississippi College. He received his Master's of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Rev. Silkwood is preceded in death by his grandparents, J.H. and Arrie Silkwood, Wilson H. and Dolores Moore, and his cousin, Mark Jackson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Mary Phillips Silkwood, his children, Christy (Josh) Mullis, Rebekah (Jeremy) Bennett, and D.R. (Deena) Silkwood, his parents, Ray and Shirley Silkwood, and his sisters, Sherry (Neil) Black, and Melissa (Robbie) Kinsey. The six grandchildren that called him ""Pop"" will forever miss him. He eagerly awaited the adoption of his future grandchild, Ansley Love, from China and the upcoming birth of a granddaughter.
He loved spending time playing games with his grandchildren. He was a devoted Saints fan before it was cool to be one and loved watching a good game.
Most of all, he loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and dedicated his life to the spreading of the Gospel. He was a brilliant theologian and loved being in the pulpit, sharing God's Word with others.
