Donald C. Fitzgerald

Donald C. Fitzgerald, Jr., Major, USAF, Retired, age 83, of Long Beach died Thursday, November 10, 2011 in Gulfport.
Major Fitzgerald, a native of Troy, AL lived on the coast since 1969. He was a member of North Long Beach Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Martha; his three sons, Ed (Mary Ellen), Mike (Karmen), and Jay (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Alicia (Clay) Anderson, Amanda (Adam) Frederick, Maranda (Sean) Broussard, Sydney Fitzgerald, David Fitzgerald; great granddaughter, Addison Frederick; brother, Gilbert (M.K.) Fitzgerald; and also left to cherish his memories Dustin and Angelle Mitchell and numerous nieces and nephews.
Major Fitzgerald attended the University of Alabama, the Military Flight School, and served as an Air Force F86 Fighter Pilot during the Korean Conflict. He was instructor pilot for four years in the T38 Talon Jet.
He was a member of the F86 Sabre Pilots Association, the Retired Officers Association, and the University of Alabama Alumni Association.

The visitation will be held Monday, November 14, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach. The funeral service will take place in the funeral home chapel the following day at 10:00 am. Burial will follow with full military honors at Biloxi National Cemetery.
