Donald Harry Field, age 76 of Gulfport, died on Monday, February 15, 2010, in Gulfport.
Mr. Field retired from the U.S. Air Force after 21 years of service, having served in Germany for 4 years, the Berlin Air Lift, the Strategic Air Command, Korea, France, Arizona, Texas, and Mississippi. He then worked for 25 years in the Civil Service at Keesler AFB, Biloxi, teaching Air Traffic Control. He was a commercial instrument rated private pilot, and enjoyed spending time in Gulf Shores with his family. He was happy that he lived long enough to see the New Orleans Saints win the Super Bowl.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry & Marie Field; his nephew, Brian Field and his sister-in-law, Jeanine Field.
Mr. Field is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Ann Field, whom he married in 1953 in Wiesbaden, Germany; his children, Randall (Diane) Field, Mike (Julie) Field, Donna (Frank) Landrum, and Lee (Collette) Field; his grandchildren, Chris Landrum, Brett Landrum, Chase Landrum, Bradley Landrum, Christine Field, Alexa Welch, Mason Welch, Ted Ross, Jason Ross, and Julie Ross; his great grandchildren, Sonia Ross, Georgia Ross, and Jerod Ross and his brother, Tom (Shirleen) Field.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 274 Beauvoir Road in Biloxi, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery, with full military honors rendered by the United States Air Force Honor Guard. For more information, please call (228)388-9516.
