Donald S. D’Aquin, Sr. passed away peacefully on January 27, 2022, surrounded by his wife and children.
He was born August 22, 1939, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was the son of George D. D’Aquin and Madeline (Rivet) D’Aquin. “Doc” as he was affectionately known, graduated from John McDonough High School, class of 1957. Following graduation, Doc served 6 years in the Louisiana Air National Guard.
On July 7, 1957, Doc married the love of his life, Jocelyn Ann Fazzio of New Orleans and they recently celebrated 65 years of marriage. Doc and Jocelyn settled in Long Beach, MS, where he worked as a sales representative and sales manager for many years. Doc was very active in Long Beach Dixie Youth Baseball as a coach and umpire.
In 1977, Doc and his family moved to D’Iberville where he was very active as a coach and district commissioner for Babe Ruth Baseball for the state of Mississippi. He was also involved with the D’Iberville High School Football program serving several years as PA announcer for home football games. He loved sports and was a fan of the LSU Tigers, the New Orleans Saints, and the Atlanta Braves.
In addition to his parents, Doc was preceded in death by his sisters, Azelia D’Aquin Hart and Stella D’Aquin Marr; his brothers, George D. D’Aquin Jr., Anthony Penedo Jr., Edward Penedo, and Robert Penedo all of New Orleans.
Doc is survived by his loving wife, Jocelyn Fazzio D’Aquin; his sons, Donnie D’Aquin (Libby) of Fairhope, AL, Dennis D’Aquin (Deanna) of Long Beach, Darren D’Aquin of D’Iberville; his daughter, Danielle Pennington (Steve) of North Biloxi; his brothers-in-law, Joel J. Fazzio (Deborah) of Marrero, LA, Mike Fazzio (Susie) of Clearwater, FL; his grandchildren, Jamie and Sarah of New Orleans, Derek of Nashville, TN, Marissa and Nathan of Wiggins, Amber and Micael of Summerlin, NV, Dominic of D’Iberville, Madeline of D’Iberville, Stephanie of Biloxi; and 4 great-grandchildren, Zion, Tallis, River, and Dylan.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022, between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach, MS.
