Mr. Donald Keith Burton, age 76, resident of Biloxi, passed away Friday, June 26, 2009.
Mr. Burton was born in Roanoke Rapids, NC to the late Robert Royal """"Jack"""" and Luna May Dixon Burton. He graduated from the University of East Carolina, where he received a full, four-year football scholarship. Mr. Burton entered the U.S. Air Force through ROTC upon college graduation. He was a Vietnam veteran and retired after 20 years of service to his country as a Major. He was an avid woodworker and racquetball player, competing up until he was 72 years old.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Joni Lynn Burton; daughter-in-law, Enola Gay Lumpkin Burton; and brothers, Robert Burton and Raymond Burton.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Shirley Jean Page Burton of Biloxi (daughter of Claborne """"Rabbit"""" and Betty Spivey Page of Roanoke Rapids); children, Donald Keith Burton, Jr. of Biloxi, James Stephen Burton of Biloxi, and Kenneth Wayne Burton of Biloxi; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, where friends may visit from 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 1:30 p.m.
Burial will follow services at Biloxi National Cemetery.
