Donald (Don) N. Bourne, Sr, age 67, of Gulfport, died on March 12, 2008 in Gulfport after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Leon Bourn, and a brother, Thomas Edward Bourn.
Don is survived by his wife, Janis Stringer Bourne of Gulfport; his mother, Alberta Rogers Bourn, of Arm, MS; his children, Donald (Donnie) N. Bourne, Jr and his wife, Joell, Michael (Mike) Leon Bourne and his wife, Vickie, and Tamye Sekul Moe, all of Gulfport; a sister, Patricia B. Chance of Arm; two grandchildren, Kayla Alexander and Sharlee Alexander, both of Brandon, MS; three nieces, Sherrie Chance Pippin, DDS and her husband, Lynn, Suzane Chance, and Gina Lea and her husband, Darrin; one nephew, Daniel Stringer; one great niece, Kiley Pippin; a sister in law, Rebecca (Becky) Stringer Korpita of Gulfport; and a brother in law, Terry Buckley Stringer and his wife, Janet, of Gulfport.
A graduate of Silver Creek High School, Silver Creek, MS, he worked at SIMCO for twenty years and Halter Marine for eight years. He has owned Hired Hands Lawn Service since 1999. Don was a member of Masonic Lodge #0613 where he was a third degree Mason, active in the Orange Grove Jaycees and the Orange Grove Youth Association where he was one of the founders of the PeeWee football and basketball programs. He was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman, and loved camping. He never met a stranger.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to Dr. Pande, the nurses at the Medical Oncology Group, the 3B staff of Memorial Hospital at Gulfport, and family and friends who have held Don in their thoughts and prayers.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 14, 2008 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd, Gulfport. The funeral service will held on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 11:00 AM where friends may call from 10:00 AM until service time. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery.
