Donald "Don" Joel Odom, age 63, of Gulfport, passed away, Tuesday, October 22, 2019.
Don always wanted to be known as a good man. He spent his life in service to others and worked hard at everything he did. He enlisted in the Marine Corps for 3 years and served from 1973-1976. He was stationed overseas in Okinawa and the Philippines. After the Marine Corps, he served 8 years as a sheriff's deputy for St. Tammany, St Charles, Jefferson Parishes. He also graduated from Tulane University as a Certified Polygraph Investigator. He worked tirelessly building two street sweeping businesses from the ground-up, All Brite and Sweep Masters. Sweep Masters was his legacy and is still thriving today.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Odom; his brother, Charles Ray Odom; his sisters Evelyn Blanc and Sue Saucier.
He is survived by his mother, Viree Davis Odom; Glenn (Mary) Odom; Cindy (Philip) Lichtenstein; Timothy (Sharon) Odom; Patricia (George) Taylor; and his beloved dog, Willie.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Humane Society of South MS.
A graveside service will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 11:00am. RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Gulfport is serving the family.
