Don Charles Burchette, age 74, of Ocean Springs, passed away on September 18, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Green Burchette; his parents, Dewey Randolph Burchette and Emma Francis “Jimmie” Burchette; a sister, Kay McArthur; 2 brothers, Randy Burchette and Robert Burchette; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Winnie “Boozie” Green.
He is survived by his 2 children, Christy Burchette and Donna (William) Gordon; his grandchildren, Kyle Bryant, Donovan Gordon, Taylor Gordon, Landyn Gordon, and Peyton Gordon; his brothers, Fletcher Burchette and Dana Burchett; his loving companion, Beth Bosarge Davidson and her children, Katina Wahlstrom, Joshua Davidson (Ada), Crystal Arminio (Dan); and her grandchildren, Alexis Wahlstrom, Christian Davidson, Emma Arminio, Liam Arminio, Hanna Arminio, Noah Davidson, and Caleb Davidson; and great-grandchildren, Maliki Wahlstrom and Matthew Ditsworth; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other friends and relatives.
Don was a native and lifelong resident of Jackson County and was a 1965 graduate of Moss Point High School. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Sampson (DDG-10) during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1970. He worked for Brown and Root at International Paper Company and has been employed as a Maintenance Pipefitter at Huntington Ingalls Shipyard for more than 30 years. Don enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid Ole Miss Rebel fan and he was a jack-of-all-trades that could fix anything. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and coworkers.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, from 9 – 11 am at the Helena Presbyterian Church. The funeral service will be at 11 am in the church. Interment will be in the Green Family Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
