Mr. Dominick Scibilia, Jr., age 62, resident of Gulfport, died on Tuesday, February 26, 2008, in Gulfport.
Mr. Scibilia's hertiage was Sicilian, and he was born and raised in New Jersey. During his youth, he excelled at playing baseball. This talent led many to encourage him to try out for MLB, which he decided not to pursue. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, where he was a member of the K-9 Corps. His love of baseball led him to be a huge New York Yankees fan. His professional life included many accomplishments. At one time, he was a commercial fisherman in the Gulf and a Charter Boat Captain in the Florida Keys. While on the boats, he received numerous commendations, from rescuing fellow fisherman, to being recognized for his successful catches. He perfected all that he attempted, and although he was a very sharp and talented person, he was a very humble and gentle person. He was very loving and always worried about everyone else. He is truly loved and will be deeply missed.
Mr. Scibilia was preceded in death by his father, Dominick Scibilia, Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Etta Scibilia of Gulfport; his mother, Rose Valente of Marlton, NJ; children, Chad Scibilia of Marathon, FL, and Lisa Traylor; stepdaughter, Cheryl Hollis of Gulfport; sister, Rosalie Payne of Marlton, NJ; grandchildren, Tiffani Scibilia and Jessica Traylor.
