Dixie Lynn Snowden Whitehead, age 67, of Gulfport, MS passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at her home in Long Beach, MS. She was born in Gulfport, MS on December 28, 1953, to the late Earl LaRue and Dorothy Mae Tisdale Snowden.
Dixie had the kindest soul and never met a stranger. Everyone was greeted with a smile and a warmhearted hug. She was a partner in C & C Office Supply in Biloxi, MS for over 30 years. In retirement she stayed busy working with Vieux Marche Antiques in Biloxi and Ocean Springs Mercantile in Ocean Springs. Dixie lived on the Gulf Coast all of her life and greatly enjoyed family trips to Perdido Key and Orange Beach. She was an avid reader and lived for her family.
Dixie was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Tisdale Snowden; her father, Earl LaRue Snowden; and her brother, Alan Snowden.
Dixie was the beloved mother of Sam Whitehead of Gulfport, MS and Casey Whitehead (Samantha) of Ocean Springs, MS. She is also survived by siblings, Shawn Sims (David) and Shan Snowden of Gulfport MS, Dawn Breland of Wiggins, MS, Terry May of Long Beach, MS; and her grandchildren, Nicholas Whitehead, Addison Kate Whitehead, and Elizabeth Wheeler.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 13, 2021, on the beach at the Courthouse Road Pier at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
