Diane Marie Osberg Hanna passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 27, 2025, in Biloxi, Mississippi. She was born on November 10, 1941, in Duluth, Minnesota to Lloyd and Marion (Berg) Osberg.
Diane was married to her devoted husband, Dennis K. Hanna Sr. also of Duluth for 65 years. Dennis served 26 years in the Air Force and having lived in many places such as Alaska, Missouri, Michigan, Iran, Texas, Colorado, Hawaii, and Mississippi twice where they decided to retire and make Biloxi their home. A true military wife never to complain about all the moves they made. Along the journey they made numerous lifelong friends.
Diane’s goal in life was to be the best and most loving mom and grandmother. Diane retired when her first grandchild was born so she could care for her. This continued throughout the birth of all her grandchildren. She loved attending all their sporting, dance and band events sometimes traveling hundreds of miles to see them participate. She was the happiest when she was with family. Most of all she loved their laughter and special hugs.
Going to the casino, bingo, bowling, shopping, swimming in her pool and days at the beach were just a few of some of her favorite pastimes. She also enjoyed tailgating at the South Alabama football games, bonding with her sisters in Beta Sigma Phi and socializing with the lovely ladies of the Krewe of Venus.
Diane is survived by her loving husband Dennis, their daughters Teri (Michael) Mitchell and Alicia Peterson, daughter in law Margie Hanna, and Kathy Smith, her siblings Darlene Lindblad, Lolly Hoffman and Mark Osberg along with many wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Marion, siblings Fred, Charles, Lloydene Stoddard and Deborah Kay, and sons Dennis Jr. and Ronald, and son in law Micheal Peterson.
Diane was diagnosed in 2020 with Multiple Myeloma cancer in its late stages. She was a fighter to the ultimate end. The family owes a tremendous amount of gratitude to Dr. Cory Carter and Dr. Christopher Shelby along with their staff for their treatment and support in her battle. Special thanks to the wonderful ladies from Kare in Home, Heidi, Amelia and Jodi whose care brought her back from bedridden in 2021 to enjoy another four years with family. Lastly to Hospice of Light, Serena and Hollie thank you both for your guidance and care.
Diane, Red, Di, Bill, G-Maw and Mom, you will be missed but never forgotten. You gave us more love and time together than we could have ever asked for or expected. We are proud of how strong you were and grateful that you fought to stay with us. You will always be cherished and deserve the love, peace, joy, comfort, and care you will receive in heaven. You often asked us not to cry at your funeral, we will try mom, but it will be difficult for those who love you.
