Dennis Mccarthy

Mr. Dennis James """"Mac"""" McCarthy, age 75, resident of Lumberton, formerly of New Orleans and Hancock County, passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2010.
Mr. McCarthy was born in New Orleans, LA to Dennis Stanislaus McCarthy and Melvina Rose James McCarthy. He worked as an insulator in the construction business, as well as owning and operating his own construction company. He was the youngest mason ever in LA to earn his 32nd Degree. Mac was a member of Heat and Frost Local 53, where he served on the executive board. At age 67, he went back to school and earned his GED and then his Associates Degree. He was a very talented builder, a very creative man, and an artist. He was a devoted husband of 40 years, and was very loving to his children, grandchildren, and godson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and cousin, Flo Benes.
He was the devoted husband of Betty """"Jeannie"""" McCarthy; loving father of Kevin James McCarthy, Billy McCarthy, Pamela McCarthy, and Deanna McCarthy; godfather to Paul McCarthy, Jr.; grandfather to seven and great grandfather to one.
At a later date, Mr. McCarthy will be entombed with his parents at Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans.
