Dennis Lorenzo Ladner, of Long Beach, Mississippi, born January 8, 1929, in Pearl River County, Mississippi, died March 15, 2025. He was beloved by the many influenced by his magnanimous spirit, humble demeanor, and the many aspects of his expertise.
Dennis enjoyed sports throughout his life. Recognized for his athletic accomplishments in high school, Dennis earned a scholarship to his father’s alma mater, Mississippi State University, and enjoyed playing basketball on the college varsity team. Following graduation Dennis returned to his home in the Silver Run Community of Pearl River County to teach and coach at Savannah High School.
It was during these working years that he was in Poplarville and saw a beautiful lady across the street. He declared to his friend, “I don’t know who she is, but I am going to marry her.” He did marry this lovely lady, and they were happily married for almost 70 years.
Dennis served in the Mississippi National Guard and completed radar training at Gulfport Field. Subsequently, with a new job opportunity, wife, and their newborn child they moved to Syracuse, New York, where he began a career with General Electric. Over the decades he was transferred to newly assigned territories from the east to the west coast until he retired from General Electric in Charlotte, North Carolina, after many years of dedicated service.
Dennis and his wife became entrepreneurs, successfully owning and operating RadioShack Stores in North Carolina where they were often awarded company cruises and trips to Hawaii and other destinations. They also enjoyed a successful career in real estate until their return to Mississippi. Upon retirement and moving to Long Beach, Mississippi, he further pursued his interests in gardening, woodworking, and playing bridge.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Grace Ladner; son, Stanley Ladner; sister, Flossie Brown; and brother, Emerson Ladner.
His wife, Mary Sue Ladner, and many nephews and nieces survive to cherish memories of a true southern gentleman whose life was well lived.
In lieu of flowers or service, you are asked to enjoy the music and times with your friends and family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, March 25th 2025 at a private residence from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. followed by a public graveside service at 1:30 p.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veterans Ave. Biloxi, MS.
