Denella O'Brien "Dee" Hodgins

Denella O’Brien Hodgins, age 91 of Gulfport, Mississippi was born on Armistice Day, November 11, 1931, in Louisiana, Missouri. She passed away March 1, 2023.

Dee was preceded in death by her parents, George Randall and Jeanne Gayden O’Brien; and her brother, George Randall O’Brien, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen; one niece, Georg-Ann; and three nephews, Scott, Dennis, and Jack.

Dee lived most of her life on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, graduating from Pass Christian High School in 1950. She worked for Hancock Bank for 42 years, retiring as administrative assistant to Leo Seal, Jr. In her retirement, she volunteered at Lynn Meadows Discovery Center and Morning Star Pregnancy Center.

She was hysterically funny, had a quick wit, and could find humor in the craziest things. She loved being outdoors weeding and planting flowers. Dee had a tender heart for all animals especially her cats Stubby, Brother, and Sally. She also loved to cook, although she couldn’t.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, March 5, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport, 11280 Three Rivers Road.

The last few years have been hard but know that Kathleen is at peace because Dee is now at peace. In honor of Dee, Kathleen prefers everyone wear happy colors to the service.
