Delores Ann McElvenny, known to her friends and family as “Dee,” age 91 of Waveland, MS, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on March 30, 2024.
Delores was born in Philadelphia, PA, and grew up on the East coast where she once played with the Queen of England on the White House lawn. After marrying Walter McElvenny they moved to California where she managed the family painting business and raised their five children.
Delores loved being with her family, Mardi Gras parades, and holidays. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and was so confident in her skills she completed them with a pen. She loved to crochet and passed this hobby down to her daughters, granddaughters and great granddaughters.
She was a loving daughter, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She will be remembered for her vivacious spirt and zest for life.
Delores is survived by her daughters, Rowena Mobley, Kathy Dawson (Karen McCoy), Connie Reddick (Larry), and Joanne Hall; her son, Walter McElvenny, Jr.; her many grandkids, great grandkids and great-great grandkids. She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years Walter “Mack” McElvenny Sr.; daughter Maryann McElvenny and her beloved mother Nellie Emma Specht.
The graveside service will be on Monday, April 8, 2024 at Biloxi National Cemetery at 1:30pm.
