Mrs. Delma Sills Simmons, age 87, resident of Gulfport, passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2010.
Mrs. Simmons was born in Lawrence County to James Robert Sills and Mae Newsom Sills. After high school, she worked at Bargain Annex, Brumfield's, and Hewes Brothers, before retiring from Gayfers as a Department Manager. She was a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she served in many leadership positions.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, John S. Simmons; her parents; her son, Robert G. Simmons; her great grandson, Chad J. Lee, Jr.; and 13 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her children, Don Hartfield, Sr., Sharon L. Barrett, and John Eric Simmons, and many other family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 16, 2010, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, where friends may call from 5-8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Monday in the funeral home chapel at 9:45 a.m. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
The family prefers memorials to Community Baptist Church, 15523 Landon Road, Gulfport, MS 39503.
