Delite Rushing Bunn, of Gulfport MS, went to be with our Lord on August 18, 2021, at Singing River Hospital with her family by her side.
She retired from Pearl River Jr. College after working as a dorm mother for fifteen years in the women’s dorm. Delite was a proud resident of Poplarville, MS and loved calling this lovely little town her home for thirty-four years. She was a dedicated member of College Heights Baptist Church. After her retirement in 2012, she decided to move closer to her family in Gulfport where she became a faithful and beloved attender of Gulf Haven Mennonite Church.
Delite was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence T. Rushing and Zella Mae Evans Rushing; her stepmother, Alma Rushing; and one brother, John Edward Rushing.
She is survived by her two sons, Jesse R. Bunn (Juanita) and David R. Bunn (Ginger); four grandchildren, David B. Bunn, Jonathan M Bunn, Jason R. Bunn, and Chantel Bunn Smith; eleven great grandchildren; Carter, Emma, Elijah, Zachary, Zoey, Zettie, Benjamin and Brooklyn Bunn, Jeremy, Hunter, and Hayden Smith; and one great, great grandson, Baylor Bunn.
Delite enjoyed the simple things of life. She enjoyed reading and just sitting in the yard and watching the beautiful horses across the street from her house on Mennonite road. She also went daily to the senior center prior to going into Lakeview Nursing Center. This was always something she looked forward to and enjoyed. She was always happy to be around her family, especially her grandchildren. They brought her much joy in her later years. She was a one-of-a- kind individual, and for that, we were truly grateful.
The family would like to say a very special thank you to the nurses and staff, and most especially the kitchen staff at Lakeview Nursing Home for the love a kindness you showed our loved one during her time there. She was content and always bragging on her meals and couldn’t wait for the next one. God bless you all for the work you are doing every day. Also, thank you to the Singing River Hospital staff of nurses.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to APDA (American Parkinson’s Disease Association).
The funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, August 23, 2021 at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, MS 39503, with a visitation for friends and family from 9:00 AM until the service. Interment will follow at Coalville Cemetery, Biloxi.
