After a lengthy illness, Debra Ann Walker transitioned to her heavenly home on Friday June 11, 2022, in Pascagoula, MS.
Debra was the daughter of Mary Kathryn Walker and Paul Walker, born in Brookhaven, MS. The Air Force sent them on many adventures to Alaska, North Carolina, Florida and eventually Las Vegas, where Debra graduated high school.
She earned her degree in Education at USM and worked as an educator on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. She was also a long-time member of Cedar Lake Church in Biloxi, MS where she served in ministry for several years. She had a special fondness for children and worked for several years with her daughter running an in-home daycare. To know her was to love her. Her smile and laugh lit up an entire room and her stories would have you cackling until your stomach hurt. Even when her illnesses made her life challenging and she was unable to do the things she loved, she was still there for her loved ones to offer advice, encouraging scripture, or prayer. Through everything her faith never wavered.
She was preceded in death by her mother Mary Kathryn Walker and father Paul Walker.
Left to cherish Debra’s memory are her daughter, Libby (Stephen) Sandoz, her sister Ramona (Leon) Carroll, father, Clarence (Patricia) Arnold, nieces Lynette (Brad) Hardin, Renee (Johnny) Victory, great nephews Paul and Garrett. She was “Oma” to Lawson, Benjamin, and Charleigh.
Ms. Walkers family would like to offer thanks to all who cared for her including the medical staff at Ocean Springs and Singing River Hospitals. They wish to extend a special thanks to her very good friend, Dena, her home health nurse, Angie, and her cardiologist Dr. Hugo Quintana.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 17, 2022, at Cedar Lake Church, 11555 Cedar Lake Road, Biloxi, MS 39532 from 10:00am until funeral time at 11:00am. Burial will be Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, 1230 Macedonia Road NW, Brookhaven, MS 39601, at 1:00pm.
