Deborah Kay Hester

Deborah Kay Hester, born on August 22, 1954, peacefully passed away at her home on January 19th 2024. She was the beloved daughter of Ralph Edwin Rishel, deceased, and Mary Saucier Rishel, deceased. 

Deborah is survived by her three cherished sons, Micah Colin Hester, Mason Coe Hester, and Miles Corey Hester, her two sisters, Mary Ann Spencer and Louise Ray, and Deborah’s former husband, Michael Clark Hester. Deborah was also a loving grandmother to Iver Elliot Hester, bringing joy and warmth to the generations she touched. Other close and loved relatives of Deborah include her niece, Christal Spencer Dessommes, with whom she shared countless memories, and her nephews; Bo Ray, the late Brodie Ray, and Brad Ray. 

After entering on an athletic scholarship, Deborah graduated from Mississippi University for Women in 1975. She continued her pursuit of knowledge at The University of Mississippi School of Law, where she earned her degree in 1983, being admitted to the Mississippi Bar Association in the same year. Her commitment to education reflected her passion for personal growth and intellectual development.

In her youth, Deborah achieved remarkable success as a medalist in gymnastics in the Junior Olympics. Her athleticism and dedication set her apart, leaving an indelible mark on those who witnessed her grace and skill.

Beyond her academic and athletic achievements, Deborah found joy in gardening, a plethora of crafting activities, and genealogical research. Her charitable activities included membership in Rotary International, wherein she held the esteemed title of Paul Harris Fellow in recognition of her exemplary commitment to community service and making a positive impact in the lives of others.

Deborah Kay Hester put her personal touch into all of her endeavors. Her life was a testament to resilience, love, and the enduring power of family bonds. She is mourned deeply. Her legacy can be honored by following her words, “Take care of those who take care of you.” She is etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

May her memory be a source of comfort to those who grieve.

A celebration of life will be held from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM, Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach, MS.
