Dayton David (Dave) Price
Dayton David (Dave) Price, age 77, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2014. The son of Merrill Edgar Price and Mauretta Irene Gladysiewicz Price, Dave was born at Children's Hospital, Newark, New Jersey on November 7, 1936.
Dave attended Our Lady of Sorrows School in South Orange, New Jersey; Seton Hall Preparatory, South Orange, New Jersey and obtained his B.S. from University of Southern Mississippi.
Dave was a man of deep faith, a member of St. James Catholic Church, being an adorer at the Adoration Chapel each week and attending mass several times each week. He attended Westminster Presbyterian Church with his wife, Rachel, and was active with the birthday card ministry with the congregational care committee. Dave was a charitable, gentle, caring and loving man, and was a blessing to all.
He was a faithful volunteer for the B.O.O.S.T program as a reading mentor at Bayou View Elementary for many years.
Dave was an avid golfer, a member of Sunkist Country Club, playing three times a week with his buddies, watching golf on T.V. every weekend and available to discuss golf with whomever would participate.
Dave served in the Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller being stationed in England, Greenland, Thailand, and Keesler Air Force Base. Upon retirement, Dave worked at Cody Hall, KAFB, as an Air Traffic Control Instructor, serving in that capacity for 23 years.
He was predeceased by his parents Merrill Edgar and Mauretta Irene Price.
Dave is survived by his wife of 37 years, Rachel, enjoying a beautiful life together. He is also survived by his children and their spouses, Mauretta L. Carter (Keith), Marea L. Morris (Kevin), James P. Price (Barbara), Melissa ""Misha"" I. Price-Ward (Earnest), and Rebecca J. Anderson (Frank); grandchildren, Christian J. Price, Cody J. Carter, Joanna M. Carter, Connor J. Carter, Evan T. Ward, Gwyneth M. Ward, Sarah E. Gregory, and Wyatt L. Gregory; and brother, Donald Edgar Price.
Pallbearers are Keith Carter, Kevin Morris, Frank Anderson, Cody Carter, and Connor Carter.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 22, 2014 from noon until 1:00 p.m. with services immediately following at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
