David Stokes

David Earl Stokes, 52, of Long Beach, MS passed January 13, 2021. He was born to the late Milwood and Barbara Stokes on August 29, 1968 in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He was a loving son, father, husband, brother, uncle, co-worker and friend.

David was a graduate of D ‘Iberville High School in 1987. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he devoted himself to protecting our country. During that time, he served in Desert Storm. For the past 28 years, he has been employed by Harrah’s Casino in Biloxi, MS, formerly known as the Grand Casino in Gulfport, MS.

Mr. Stokes is preceded in death by his parents; his paternal grandparents, Nathan and Sarah Stokes; his maternal grandparents, Marcelin and Martina Lightell; his mother-in-law Joyce Harris; his great nephew, Alexander Michael Norton; his great niece, Audrey Lynne Finuff; and his brother-in-law Buster Powell.

David is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Gerri Lynn Stokes; his son, Josh (Destiney) Guericke; his father-in-law and wife Woody and Kathy Sikes; his eight siblings, Laverne (Tom) Clayton, Kathy (Steve) Strickland, Yvonne (Mike) Johnston, Buddy (Porfi) Stokes, Belinda Powell, Roy (Mary) Stokes, John (Susan) Stokes, and Karen (Donald) Montana; and his numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his two loving dogs, Izzie and Angus.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 11:30-1:00 pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in D ‘Iberville, MS, with a funeral service at 1:00 pm. A private burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wreaths for Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veterans Avenue, Building 1001 Biloxi, MS 39531.
