David Joseph Henley, age 82, of Pass Christian, MS, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2012.
Mr. Henley was born in Sewanee, TN to Raymond and Etta Garner Henley. He served in the U.S. Army for 23 years during the Vietnam War and Korean War. After military retirement, he worked for Civil Service at Keesler AFB in the maintenance departments of the hospital and golf course. He loved gardening, farming, and traveling back to his hometown of Sewanee in the TN mountains. Fishing was a favorite pastime and he was known for being a simple person. He was affectionately known by his grandchildren and others as Pee Paw.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maxine C. Henley; daughter, Barbara Coley; sons, Walter and Paul Henley; sisters, JoAnn Sullivan and Louise Mattis; brothers, Raymond, Bob, and Rudolph Henley; and a grandson, Clayton Coley.
He is survived by his daughter, Joyce Ann Traylor (Darryl) of Pass Christian; sister, Mary Ladner (Stan)of Gulfport; 5 grandchildren, Lucas Coley, Jennifer Linton, Joey Traylor (Brandi), Gary Traylor (Deanne), and Brandy Traylor (Michael); and 6 great-grandchildren, Austin, Skylar, Addison, Cameron, Lacey and Nicholas; and son-in-law, Darrell Coley; and sister-in-law, Janet Henley of D'Iberville, MS.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 30, 2012, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the chapel at 6:00 p.m.
Burial with full military honors will be Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery with the funeral procession leaving the funeral home at 9:00 a.m.
