David Fitch

d. May 21, 2018

On May 21, 2018, David Cliburn Fitch exchanged this earthly existence for a heavenly one.
Preceding him in death were his father and mother, Ardith and Ellen Fitch and a brother, Paul.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Wilson Fitch and brother, Samuel Fitch.
David completed Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Mississippi State University. Upon graduation, he worked as an engineer for NASA in Huntsville and Houston on the Centaur, Gemini, and Apollo projects. During his time in Houston, he completed all course work for a doctorate in mechanical engineering at Rice University.
He taught mathematics, physics, and engineering for almost 30 years on the Jefferson Davis Campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.. He also taught full time in the Industrial Engineering program of the University of Southern Mississippi for 4 years; upon retirement from MGCCC, he taught for two years at Alabama Southern Community College in Monroeville, Alabama.
David was an avid bicyclist, camper, lover of nature, and woodworker, evidenced by two beautiful houses that he designed and built. But most importantly he loved serving God and his fellow man.
