Dave Serrato

Dave Serrato, a cherished resident of Gulfport for 75 years, passed away on April 22, 2025, at the age of 95. Born in California on April 26, 1929, he dedicated his life to his family, his craft, and his community.

Dave was well-known for owning and operating David Serrato Painting & Decorating, a business that he passionately ran for many years. Even after retiring, his commitment to his work remained strong, as he continued to paint and decorate well into his 80s, exemplifying a remarkable work ethic that inspired those around him.

An individual of great integrity and service, Dave proudly served in the United States Coast Guard, achieving the rank of Chief Gunners Mate. His military service was a source of pride for him, and he carried the values instilled during that time throughout his life.

As an avid boater and fisherman, he spent many joyful hours on the water, which brought him great happiness. Dave was also a member of the Masonic Lodge 500 Polar Star and the Scottish Rites of Gulfport, reflecting his commitment to community and fellowship. He was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving Dave are his beloved wife of 73 years, Lois Serrato; their four children, David Serrato, Gina D'Coit, Tina Rockwood, and Darin Serrato; along with his cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Steven, Deanna, David, Maria, and Dorian. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Bailee, Evan, Hayden, Michael, Elijah, and Ava, each of whom he adored deeply.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Dario and Maria Serrato; two grandsons, Tony Matthew Serrato and David Earl Serrato; and his siblings, Mary, Margie, Paul, Raymond, Rufus, Leo, and Albert. His journey was one filled with love, dedication, and lasting contributions to those around him. He leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories and a profound impact on the lives of many.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 10:00 AM at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, Mississippi. The family invites all who knew and loved Dave to join them in honoring his remarkable life.
