Mr. Dave """"Granddaddy"""" Robinson, 71, of Gulfport died Saturday, March 31, 2007 in Biloxi.
Mr. Robinson was a native of Mendenhall, MS and had been a resident of Gulfport since 1958. He served in the U.S. Army as a Combat Engineer Demolition Specialist and was a member of Greater Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. He has been employed in funeral service for 44 years with the Riemann family and was currently working at Gulf Coast Funeral Home. """"Granddaddy"""" was well known along the coast for helping thousands of families deal with the most difficult times in their lives. He was well respected in the community for being kind and generous and his love for others will carry on for years to come.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sanders Robinson and Mamie McGee.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years Adelle Robinson, Gulfport; his son, Glenn D. Robinson, of Gulfport; a daughter, Paulette Smith, Magee, MS; his brother, John Robinson, Alabama; one grandson, David I. Robinson, Gulfport, numerous other family members and relatives.
The visitation will be Thursday, April 5, 2007 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 1816 Martin Luther King Blvd, Gulfport, MS 39501. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm.
Interment, with Military Honors, will be in the Biloxi National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Willie Applewhite, Jr., Bobby Applewhite, Corey Dean, Phil Mechatto, Ernest Reed, and David Riemann. Honorary Pallbearers will be his co-workers and family members of Gulf Coast Funeral Home.
The Robinson family wishes to thank the Doctors, Nurses, and other staff at Gulf Coast Medical Center for their care and concern, and also the members of Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church, St. Mark United Methodist Church, St. John Baptist Church, Riverside Baptist Church, Greater Mt. Love Missionary Baptist Church and New Hope Baptist Church for the love, support, and prayers.
