Lillie "Darlene" Smith, age 80 of Long Beach, went home to be with her lifelong love, Charles, on Saturday, September 1, 2018.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Smith, Jr.; her parents, Lester F. Sisk and Thelma Mae; her sister, Mary Francis; and her brother, Lester.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Liccardo (Francesco), of Naples, Italy; her sons, Charles Smith III (Debra), of DeLisle, Clifford Smith, of Redlion, PA, and David Smith, of Wilmington, DE; her sister, Patricia Taylor, of Junction, TX; grandchildren, Salvatore (Assunta), Elena (Rosario), Rosalba (Gennaro), Simona (Antonio), of Italy, Cory Dale, of Fayetteville, NC, Dana Smith, of Bunkerhill, WV, Aron Smith, of Redlion, PA, Chase Smith (Kayrin), of Kiln, MS, Anissa and Courtney Smith, of Pass Christian, MS; 17 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Darlene, a native of Fort Worth, TX, was a homemaker for much of the many years as a Navy wife. She loved collecting owls, crocheting and crafting, taking pictures, and being an active part of her grandchildren's lives.
She was an active member of New Hope Baptist Church, Peace Baptist Church, of Gulfport, TOPS MS 0214, of Biloxi, and spent countless hours as a volunteer in the gift shop at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 8, 2018, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, MS, with a visitation for family and friends from 9:30 AM until the service. Interment will be at Biloxi National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, her family asks that you send memorial contributions in her name to Coastal Civitan, PO Box 6522, Diamondhead, MS, 39525, an organization dear to her precious Courtney.
