Darlene R. Owen, age 75 of Long Beach, passed away on February 2, 2025, in Biloxi, Mississippi. Darlene's life was a testament to dedication, service, and love.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Marie Guidice.
Darlene is survived by her beloved husband, Scott G. Owen, of 34 years; her mother-in-law, Yvonne P. Owen; and her lifelong friend, Mary Cary Fisher.
Darlene was Born on April 6, 1949, in Brooklyn, New York. Darlene embarked on her professional journey with an Associates degree in Secretarial Science, which laid the foundation for her career. In the 1970s, she became known for her contributions to the New York City Hospital System, where she diligently served. Her commitment to her work was matched only by her service to her country, as she was medically retired from the United States Navy in 1995 after achieving the rank of YN1. Darlene’s commendable military career was highlighted by her proudest accomplishments, which included receiving the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal, two Navy Achievement Medals, and the Meritorious Unit Citation during her tenure. Notably, she served as part of the 1st inaugural committee for President Reagan, a testament to her dedication and exemplary service.
Beyond her professional achievements, she loved to travel and cook. She also enjoyed Mardi Gras, holding the title of Queen Venus 19th for the Mardi Gras Krewe of Venus.
A celebration of Darlene’s life will be held at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Rd, Long Beach, on April 6, 2025, beginning at 2:00 PM.
