Darl E. Corrick

June 18, 1946 — November 27, 2010

Darl E. Corrick, U.S. Navy Seabees (Retired), age 84, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2010, at his residence. He was a native of Elkins, WV and had been a resident of Gulfport since 1968.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, whom he married on June 18, 1946 in Elkins, WV, Betty Louise (Harper) Corrick; his parents, Leslie G. & Ora Mae (Pfau) Corrick; one sister, Hildred (Corrick) Wisely, and two brothers, Oran Corrick (who died in infancy) and Eldred Corrick.
Mr. Corrick is survived by his daughters, Louise (Corrick) Leachman and husband Tony of Calhoun, KY, Joyce (Corrick) Warden of Vancleave; his son, Alan Corrick and wife Tracy of Gulfport, 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren, and 2 great great granddaughters.
Mr. Corrick was a veteran of WWII and Vietnam. He served aboard the U.S.S. Frament DE677 (APD77) as a Gunners Mate, operated in the American and European Theatre of Operations, and Asiatic Pacific Campaign and China Service, two tours of duty in Vietnam with NMCB-121 and Seabee Team 121-04, he received numerous awards including the Navy Commendation Medal of Services at American Embassy, Toyko, Japan, and Navy Achievement Medal for Services as Security Officer, Construction Battalion Center, Gulfport, MS.
Mr. Corrick was a member of the Nugent United Methodist Church, life member of Navy Seabee Veteran's of America Island X-1 Gulfport, lifetime charter member of National World War II Memorial Washington, D.C., VFW Post 3647, Elkins, WV, CEC/Seabee Historical Foundation, Armed Forces Benefit Association, and National Association of Uniformed Services.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2010, from 6pm-9pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2010, at 11:00am at Nugent United Methodist Church, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Nugent United Methodist Church, Food Pantry, 13183 John Clark Road, Gulfport, MS 39503.
