Daris Pigott, age 78, of Gulfport, passed away on March 29, 2008 in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nancy Davis Pigott and James Pink Pigott; his brothers, Waldo, Maurice, and Darrell ; his sisters, Verdie and Wilda; and his granddaughter, Nancy Hollingsworth.
Mr. Pigott is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sybil Megehee Pigott; his daughters, Karen Hollingsworth and her husband, Richard, Kathy Rogers and her husband, Lee, and Elizabeth Frankum and her husband, Jeff; his siblings, Horris, Vernon, and Lavern; his grandchildren, Joseph, Joshua, Brian, Laura, Andrew, and Annie; and his great-grand children, Timothy, Jessica, Caileigh, Emma, and Shawn.
He was raised in Picayune and served in Korea as a member of the Army National Guard. He and his family moved to Gulfport in 1956 where he was instrumental in establishing the first volunteer fire department and the Lion's Club of Orange Grove. He worked for Coast Electric Power Association for twenty years and served as district manager from 1956 - 1969. He later retired after serving as a high-voltage lineman at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi.

The visitation will be held on Monday, March 31, 2008 from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd, Gulfport. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at 3:00 PM where friends may call from 1:30 PM until service time at Liberty Baptist Church, 261 Liberty Rd, Picayune, MS. Burial will follow at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.
