Danny Tackett

Danny Wayne Tackett, age 72, of Gulfport, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2022.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Leon Tackett; his stepfather, Billy Wallace; his stepmother, Kathleen Tackett; and his nephew, Neil Tyra.

Danny is survived by his companion of 8 years, Patti Yutzy; his mother, Vera Wallace of Mantachie, MS; his children, Danielle Tackett (Kirsten) of Saginaw, Michigan, Kelli Dailey (Justin) of Saucier, MS, and Shelli Estrella (Eric) of Austin, TX; the mother of his children, Barbara Tackett (wife of 43 years), of Gulfport, MS; his siblings, Emily Warner (Todd) of Mantachie, MS, and Cindy Allen (Jesse) of Mantachie, MS; his grandchildren, Clara and Grant Dailey, of Saucier, MS; Patti’s children, Jana and Jill; and her grandchildren, KK and Denton.

Danny was a native of Tupelo, MS, and resided in Gulfport, MS where he worked as a Mississippi Highway Patrolman. He was an entrepreneur of many things. Danny received multiple awards from the MS Highway Patrol State Pistol Team, he was also a DEA agent, a recovery diver, and a drag racer, where he also received many awards. He had a passion for drag racing, land speed racing, building & collecting classic cars, collecting memorabilia, history buff, traveling, golf, softball, power lifting, and Saints football. He was a member of the Free Masons and the Geezer Gasers.

His children call him Daddy-O or Dano, and his grandchildren called him Bobo. Danny will be deeply missed by all that had the honor of knowing him.

A visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00pm, Sunday, October 30, 2022, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Monday, October 31, 2022, at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow at Finley Cemetery in Gulfport.
