Daniel Harold """"Danny"""" Ray, age 44, a life long resident of Long Beach, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at his home surrounded by family and friends.
He attended Long Beach High School and was most proud to have been a second generation alumni of St. Thomas School and a life long member of St. Thomas Catholic Church.
He was retired after fifteen years of loyal service as a civil service employee at the Naval Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport, MS where he made many long time friends that were like family to him. They were a special group.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and love for antique cars which he shared with his sons. He was an avid Saints fan. He coached Little League Baseball and Pee Wee Football for years which included his own children. He was a devoted father and loving husband.
The Ray Family would like to thank all the staff at Memorial Hospice, Memorial Hospital, and the Oncology Group of Gulfport for their wonderful care. Thank you to the clergy and members of our Long Beach Community for their love and support.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold Reinike, Beatrice Reinike, Grady Ray, Vera Ray, Malcolm R. Gibson and Edmonia Gibson all of Long Beach.
Survivors include his loving wife of 26 years, Ann B. Ray, 3 children, Daniel Stephen Ray, Anthony Patrick Ray, and Lauren Anne Ray, his parents, Daniel Grady and Rita Gibson Ray, 2 sisters, Laura (Eugene) Burrus and DeeDee (Tim) McCaffrey, 1 brother, Patrick (Suzanne) Ray, all of Long Beach, and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 am Saturday, September 15, 2007 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Long Beach. Visitation will be from 9:30 - 11 am at the church.
Interment will be in Long Beach City Cemetery.
