Daniel H. (Herman) Williams, age 73, of Gulfport, passed away on October 20, 2008 in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, N.G. Williams and Mary E. Williams; and two brothers, Leslie Williams and Noel (Wayne) Williams.
Mr. Williams is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Patty Pearce Williams of Gulfport; his children, Daniel T. (Ted) Williams and his wife, Vickie, of Gulfport, and Noel D. (Doug) Williams and his wife, Kim, of Mobile, AL; a brother, Grady B. Williams, and his wife, Helen, of Victoria, TX; and his grandchildren, Jordan Becnel and his wife, Kristin, Jessica Becnel, Taylor Williams, and Tanner Williams.
Daniel was a math teacher and coach at Long Beach High School from 1957 to 1962. After receiving his master's degree in Mathematics, he began working for Boeing Corporation in New Orleans. He continued his career with UNISYS and CSC before joining the Naval Oceanographic office at Stennis Space Center. During his tenure at NAVO, he was instrumental in the development of the High Performance Computing Center. He retired as HPC Director in 1995.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Gulfport; a member of the Polar Star Lodge #154; and a 32nd degree mason with the Scottish Rite, Gulfport, MS.

The visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd, Gulfport. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2008 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home chapel. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
