Mr. Daniel McCahill ""Dan"" Williams, age 81, of Biloxi, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and 4 sons on August 29, 2016.
He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel McCahill Williams, Jr., his parents, Joseph and Thelma Williams, a brother, Joe Williams, and 2 sisters, Jeanne W. Spain, and Gloria W. Pelone.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Beverly Gollotte Williams, 4 sons, Daniel Joseph Elton Williams, Patrick K. (Amanda) Williams, Christopher P. (Amanda) Williams, and Michael T. (Marie) Williams, 6 grandchildren, Lockard Williams, Olivia Williams, Andrew Williams, Daniel Williams, Claire Williams, and Charlotte Williams, a sister, Pat Dell (Howard (""Humpy"") Wheeler, Charlotte, NC, 2 sisters-in-law, Pauline Williams, Charlotte, NC, and Gwen Gollotte, Biloxi, a brother-in-law, Merritt Brunies, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Mr. Williams was a native of Charlotte, NC and has been a resident of Biloxi for 61 years. He was a graduate of O'Donoghue Catholic High School, attended Belmont Abbey and Clemson University, and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi and received his master's degree from Pepperdine University. He served in the U.S. Air Force and while stationed at Keesler Air Force Base, he met his wife, Beverly Gollotte, at Nativity BVM Cathedral. He retired after 39 years of Civil Service at Keesler and was the owner of The Religious Gift Book Shop in Biloxi. He was a faithful member of Nativity BVM Cathedral where he was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society for 41 years and he served as president of the Nativity Elementary School Board and president of the Mercy Cross High School Booster Club. Mr. Williams was a lifelong supporter of catholic education and all 4 of his sons attended catholic schools.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Nativity BVM Cathedral.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 2, 2016, from 9 am - 11 am at Nativity BVM Cathedral. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am. Interment will be in Biloxi City Cemetery.
