Cynthia Johnson

Cynthia Jean Nunn Johnson, age 59, of Gulfport, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017.
She was born to Will Dean Nunn and Dorothy Nash Nunn in Wisconsin and grew up in Jackson, MS. She graduated from University of Southern Mississippi with a B.S. in Paralegal Studies. After graduation, she worked as a paralegal and then later decided to be a stay-at-home Mom to raise her growing family. Cindy worked as the first peer counselor for the County Health Department and was instrumental in the development of the WIC Peer Counseling Program. She found her niche as a National Board Certified Teacher, received her Master's Degree in Education from William Carey University, and taught in the Gulfport School District for 18 years, with the last 15 years at Bayou View Middle School.
In her spare time, Cindy enjoyed playing tennis, crocheting, walking, and spending time with her husband.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Cindy was the best wife, mother, and grandmother and loved her family unconditionally! She is deeply loved by her husband of 36 years, Keith Gordon Johnson of Gulfport; her children, Adam Milton (Victoria) Johnson of Gulfport, and Claire Elizabeth Johnson of Gulfport; her siblings, Bob (Beverly) Nunn of Jackson, Nancy Nunn (Danny) Harrington of Meridian, Kathy Nunn (Patrick) Godbold of Russellville, AR, and her twin brother, Mike Nunn of Jackson; and her precious grandchildren, Madelyn Jean Johnson and Porter Cole Johnson, whom she loved traveling to see. She also leaves behind her extended family.
Cindy will be remembered for her bright smile, kindness, and love for others, her complete dedication to her students and friends, and her beautiful and genuine giving spirit.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2017, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
A Life Celebration will follow in the funeral home chapel at 6:00 p.m.
