CW3 Gerald Ray Meador (US Army Retired), age 87, passed away on September 16, 2022 at Keesler AFB Hospital, Biloxi, MS.
He was born in 1935 in Jones County, Mississippi to John T. Meador and Mamie Collins Meador. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1953 and served 20 years as a helicopter pilot. He bravely served two years in the Korean War and two years in the Vietnam War. After his service, he continued working as a helicopter pilot for PHI Helicopter in Lafayette, Louisiana. He was a member of the VFW, MOAA, 82nd Airborne and the American Legion, and he enjoyed any hobby related to the military or helicopters.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mamie Meador; brother, Freddie Meador; and sister, Charlotte Meador.
He is survived by his wife of 9+ years, Bonny K. Meador; children, Cynthia Meador Hebert, Gerald Meador Jr. (Tamara Hudson), Bruce Meador, Susan Chauffe (Joey Chauffe), Mark Tomlinson, Elaine Tomlinson, Brandy Willis (Timothy Willis) and Vincent O’Briant; sister-in-law, Jan Meador; 16 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., with a one-hour visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 274 Beauvoir Rd. Biloxi, MS. Burial with military honors will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veterans Ave. Biloxi, MS.
